The company initially started its manufacturing operation by setting up a Specialised Bag Stitching Factory at Ghusuri, Howrah. In 1994 the management took possession of the Hastings Jute Mill - a premier Jute Mill in India, to meet the increased demand of its overseas clients as also to have a forceful presence in Indian domestic market. Hastings Jute Mill functions as a Division of Murlidhar Ratanlal Exports Ltd. Today the company is exporting its wide variety of quality Jute products to all the four corners of the Globe. It is a Govt of India recognized TRADING HOUSE. It is not only a lead exporter of Jute Goods from India, it had the unique privilege of winning prestigious National Award for Excellence in export of jute goods on several occasions. Being the major stake holder in the Lagan Jute Machinery Co. Ltd., it has started making inroads in World Machinery market also.
